Sneak Peek - Feb. 13-18, 2012

Mom’s work:

  • Start planning Emma’s third grade units and lessons for the month of March.
  • Finish the last round of edging on the crochet blanket I made for Emma’s friend,  and start Isaac’s blanket.  (I finished the edging Sunday night while watching the Grammys!  I’ll post pics later in the week.)
  • Put away the Valentine’s décor, and pull out the St. Patrick’s Day decorations.
  • Begin sorting and organizing my recipe binder (which is currently overflowing!)

In school:

As a group:

  • Bible – We’ll wrap up our study of Job this week.
  • Music – We’ll wrap up our study of Bach.

Logan – Senior Year:

  • History: Learn about the beginnings of American government – Articles of Confederation, Constitution, etc.  Memorize and recite the Preamble. Read Johnny Tremain.
  • Literature: Read poetry from Edna St. Vincent Millay and learn to quote poetry in paragraph form. Read Huck Finn.
  • Art: Start learning about Surrealism with a  focus on Dali this week.
  • Science: Gather weather data for an upcoming science experiment.

Isaac – 8th Grade:

  • Geography: Starts a 2-week unit about Australia
  • Science: Gather weather data for an upcoming science experiment.
  • English: verbs: transitive, intransitive, linking, forms of be, tenses – simple and perfect
  • Literature: All Things Great and Small

Emma:

  • Literature:  The Secret Garden
  • History: Dinosaurs
  • Science: moving from bones to muscles this week
  • Handcrafts:  finger knitting scarves

Around the house:

  • Help Emma clean and organize her art table
  • Find old frames to paint for “this” project
  • Make overnight French toast
  • Clean out the guinea pig cage
  • Choose one area of craft closet to clear out and organize

Family matters:

  • Emma has a dance competition this weekend.
  • Isaac is having a sleepover while Emma and I are gone.
  • Logan is coaching Upwards basketball Friday and working on Saturday.
  • Matt is holding down the fort while I spend Friday and Saturday in Ft. Worth with Emma at her competition.
