In my life this week:
- I'm fighting off what I hope is just a cold! Right now it's just a sore throat and the sniffles. I need any illness to hold off for a few more days!!
- Emma's first dance competition of the season starts tomorrow {and I'm more nervous than she is}.
- We watched 'The Indian in the Cupboard'. The whole time she watched it, Emma kept saying "well, that's different than in the book."
- Science - We started our study of water animals.
- History - We learned about the Northwest Passage.
- Art - Picasso - Emma loved doing this project: http://www.teachkidsart.net/picasso-portraits-kindergarten-style/
- Music - Bach
- Read-alouds - Anne of Green Gables (general reader), The Last of the Mohicans (history reader), Wind in the Willows (science reader), and Sebastian Bach The Boy from Thuringia (music reader)
- Dance classes
- Jiu Jitsu classes
- Celebrity Dance Competition in Arlington, TX
- Watching Isaac stand up for a friend who was being accused of something she didn't do. I'm so proud of him!
- working: A lighter school load… Just by choosing to alternate science/history (instead of trying to do both on the same day), our day flows so much better.
Things I'm working on:
- dance costumes and props ~ I have just a few more things to finish before the competition this weekend...
I'm reading:
- Praying Circles Around Your Children
- It Happens Every Spring
- To Honor and Trust
I'm cooking:
- very little these days as dance prep consumes every free moment… We have had nachos, spaghetti, and leftovers this week. It'll be better next week!
I'm grateful for:
- I'm so grateful that Logan can drive. He is a big help getting Isaac to and from BJJ when Emma's dance classes conflict. That's my biggest challenge with Matt gone.
- Great no-drama dance mom friends who rally together to support the kids instead of being nasty toward one another! It sure makes this dance mom gig so much more pleasant!
Some day-to-day pics from my week:

I finished decorating Emma's "Dorothy" house for her solo!

Our trip to the library

Great week! Good luck to Emma this weekend (and your nerves!). Great Wizard of Oz house!! And I know what you mean about how great it is to have a teenage driver. I am loving Dawson being 16!
That is the cutest house ever!!
I am ALWAYS surprised by how cheap ground beef is in America. We pay heaps for it here in Australia - even though we grow our own cattle.
Loved your Dorothy House.
Yeah for your guy standing up for right! It looks like you had a very full week.
It was fun reading your week in review! Love the house!! Happy to be following you.
Wow! Where HAS January gone I ask also!
WOW ground beef for $1.47 a lb! That is unheard of for my area! I'm so excited to be following you.
It is just that time of year for colds. I have one, too! :/ I love your weekly wrap up! So excited to be following you!
